Sunny Health & Fitness Magnetic Rowing Machine SF-RW522016I have only had this for a day, but so far it seems very nice. It was packaged very well and if you take your time and follow the instructions it's very easy to set up.I've been out of shape for a few years and really need to get back into fitness. I chose rowing because it works a larger percentage of your body and it's low impact.I had a limited budget and did a lot of research before finally settling on a magnetic rower and this specific model.I was a little concerned with the tension being too light, as stated on a lot of reviews I read. I can see where that may be the case for some who may be top level athletes or using the rower incorrectly. Again, it's only my first day so I will update another time when I have more experience with it.On initial review I only gave it 4 stars because like most of the lower end models the foot pedals are placed too close to where the strap enters the machine so you only get 75% of the reach when you're in the full forward position (the catch position). I knew this going in, but none the less decided something was better than the nothing I was currently doing. The other issue is the pivoting foot pedals. I can see where it might be helpful for some who have foot or ankle mobility issues, but for the most part, all the research I've done suggests that a non pivoting foot plate is the best to maximize your workout. Again, I knew this going into buying this model.Bottom line...if you do a lot of research you will find that almost no one will recommend a budget rower. They will most likely recommend the Concept 2 (which is the gold standard of rowers) and tell you to wait and save your money for it. It is a great machine and this would be excellent advice for those who have that kind of money or are willing to wait until they save up for it. In my case, that would be a very long time and I wanted to get started now.On first review, this machine seems to be a very well put together and effective rower for its budget price point of around $300. I am looking forward to seeing how this works for me and will update my review when I have more experience with it.

Clear installation instructions, very easy to assemble.Small footprint and easy to use with good workout.

What always scared me about working out, was the pain. “No pain, no gain!!” -Some Bro @ Local Gym; Well that’s 100% wrong. I rocked out 30mins on a light difficulty, and had no muscle pain, no back pain (actually I had less than normal), and no soreness at all for the next several weeks. And yeah I waited weeks to Row again to see if I was gonna regret it.My only regret was not buying this sooner. It feels like I’m not even working out. But it’s only been once a week for a couple months and I already handle stairs without issue. My back has stopped hurting by mid-day, and I really feel a serious difference. It’s weird. I’m a desk nerd. I shouldn’t be hyped about workouts. And yet- I wish I could just lend out mine for people to experience it. So ok, you want to try it..Put it right up to your TV, close as you can get. Find a video on YouTube about rowing down a canal, but without music, so you can use earbuds or headphones and listen to your own. Get a small fan and set it in the lowest setting across the room but aiming at your front side, then dim the lights.That first rowing session will blow your mind. You’re not “working out”. You’re rowing along an English Countryside through old canals and under foot bridges. You’re not working out. Your rowing down a gentle river in Italy, enjoying the sun, birds and scenery. You’re NOT working out. You’re getting out to see the world, and going at your own pace with no one to judge you.This Rowing Machine is amazing. And you’re missing out. Also- Pic? Look how little space this takes up! Folds up, goes against the bedroom wall.Oh also, some reviews have mentioned it being loud? I think they got a bad unit that was damaged in shipping. Mine is nearly silent. Especially after tightening the seat grip rollers.

Nice rowing machine except for 2 things: 1) not enough tension...once you get to 8 you're at the top of the tension range and; 2) VERY LOW TO THE GROUND...had I noticed that in the product description I would have selected another rowing machine.

This is a great way to start for someone trying to get back in the shape!

Smooth, we will see how durable it is

Got this for my Birthday and after a small setup, I got to try it out. This rower works very well and I like the seat and the no-slip shoe holders are fantastic. The things I do not like are the pull rope feels a little chunky (not a deal breaker) and the display just keeps going back and forth. All in All a very good product. 4 stars.

Good exercise for this 76 year old senior woman, using 14 on pull. Easy to assembly, did it with my 10 year old grandson. Only thing I do not like—screen with stats is very small and dark (cannot see it while rowing), and foot pedals are huge, even though I have a 10.5 size foot, my feet slide around the pedals and I am using the straps, but still annoying while rowing. Solid machine, price okay.

Solid purchase. I'm a female in my 30s. I needed a bit of help to carry the box into my basement, but otherwise I set up the machine on my own. The instructions were clear and it was very easy. The machine works well and does not feel cheap. The app was easy to access and had some good workouts available, if you choose to use that feature. Docked one point for the seat, which is pretty hard and made my butt sore after a 20 minute workout. Going to look for options to add a bit of padding. Otherwise, I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking to buy home workout equipment.

Setup for my son and I took about an hour from unboxing to complete. All the parts were there and the instructions were clear. The diagrams in the instructions were too small for my old (73) eyes. The rower feels sturdy after assembly. However I noticed immediately that the exercise computer was not working. All settings just read 0 while I was rowing. Checked the two connections and they were fine. Contacted Sunny about some on-site warranty service and was told they don't do that. My choices are look for the problem myself and send them a pic if I find it or return it to Amazon. So I have to take the rower apart looking for a wiring problem? Not acceptable to me. I'll either just use it without the computer or send it back. Disappointing. Edit - Before returning the rower to Amazon I was able to find an easy fix for the problem by removing the computer and bracket, then disconnecting and reconnecting the two leads. After reattaching the computer it was working. Added one star to the review.

Recommendation: Keep a cloth nearby to wipe down the track before every use.+: Relatively easy initial assembly. Flywheel action is smooth and quiet. Not humongous. Feels solid. I love rowing and it's getting me to exercise!meh: Some noise from the roller on the track (but that can't be entirely eliminated; and I can still hear the telly, so it's fine for me). Probably too much noise in a room where someone is trying to sleep (.... which isn't a good place to exercise, anyway....).-: Folding is easy, but reassembly after that is not so easy. For better or worse, this will stay in the room it's in most of the time. (I don't need to fold it much, so it works for me.)--: Can't connect BT to app without having GPS enabled and getting signal, so can't use it in basement. And why does BT connection require access to GPS in the first place???? (There was a known limitation in Android 11 and below, but I'm on Android 13, so the app needs only "nearby devices" permission to connect to the BLE computer and not "location" permission. Even if it wanted location permission, it doesn't need GPS to be active.)

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I picked this brand over others because it offered a free app for Android. Turns out, the app isn't compatible with any of the THREE Android devices I own.I contacted their Customer Service, and they told me there was nothing they could do. They can't even give me an estimate for when the app will be available for any of my devices. Save yourself the trouble and download the app BEFORE you buy to make sure your device is one of the small number they support.As for the rower itself, it's quite basic. It works well, although the handle feels a bit on the low side (and I'm pretty short).  The plastic roller under the seat is slowly shredding itself, leaving small plastic shavings over the rail so that I have to wipe it down regularly.  Other than that I have no complaints.

After researching rowing machines for a couple of years, my husband and I decided to purchase the Sunny Health & Fitness Magnetic Rowing Machine (purchased March 2026). We started slowly as we are older. We gave it a 4 rating because although we love the machine, the straps that hold your feet are fraying already. The cause appears to be the slot in the pedal - when you slide the strap through it to tighten, then loosen it.

It' s VERY good but I find the seat a bit uncomfortable. It' s too hard and it is raised- up a bit at the back (it has a lip) and it' s causing discomfort. It should be plain and straight and softer. May be I' ll get used to it with time. I' ll see.I got used to the seat but I am bigger man at 200 Lbs so my butt is a little bigger than normal so the contoured seat does not work very well for me, I would prefer if there as a flat seat. It would be nice if there was an option for a contoured, or flat seat. I' d choose the flat seat.Thanks.

Great addition to our home gym. Relatively easy to assemble (husband did it by himself in less than an hour). Versatile size-wise - my husband (6'3'') and myself (5'4'') can both use it. We just wish the resistance was a bit higher. It's not the end of the world because we can up speed and/or reps, but more resistance would be nice.

Machine works great. I’ve been using it for several months now, and feel I’m getting a really good work out every time. The app, however is one of the more complicated ones. And on top of that I keep getting a “server is busy, please try again later” message. So I’ve decided to not use the app. If you want to keep track of your workouts the app is iffy.

I bought this rower because of the discount and the reviews. So far it’s working very nice, easy and smooth.

It was easy to assemble with very clear directions and all of the screws and smaller pieces were well labeled. The resistance settings are decent and had no issues swapping between them. The rail slides nicely and the cord retracts well. The stat tracker is fine, a bit basic but I wasn't expecting fancy. I didn't try the app at all so I'm not sure if that gives more info than the one on the machine. While it's no Concept2 it's a good product and a good workout.There are some things I think could be improved though. The foot rests I feel move a bit too much. I'd like it more if they were more stationary. I've tightened the screws down as much as the provided tools will allow and when I'm returning to the start position the foot rests tilt up slightly which I could see causing some ankle issues. Also the wheels to move it are not in the best position. I have to tilt the machine pretty far forward to get the wheels to make contact and I did accidentally scratch my floor when trying to move it. The other thing it could use is some anti-slip pads on the front and back legs. I have my machine on a very smooth laminate wood floor and it slides around a bit when I'm pulling with force.TL:DR: For the price it is a good rowing machine. It's not a Concept2 but if that's what you are expecting just buy the Concept2. It does have a few minor issues but overall a good machine.

All I can say is this unit is performing well, four weeks into its use.

I havev a $2700 name brand treadmill and a $2600 name brand gym...this little $500 rowing machine is my favorite work out!

First of all, it arrived six days early!!!Not happy that there is one washer missing and getting one seems impossible 😳😡Easy to follow directions. I think it took about two hours putting it together alone. But I need the missing washer!!!

Excited to start learning. It’s easy to put together, quiet , and the classes are a great part of this rower.

Exactly what I wanted for my home gym. Elegant. Simple. Quiet. And it feels good. I like their free iphone and apple watch apps. Very easy to keep track of heart rate and see other parameters on you phone. One month of using. No issues or complains.

Screen small but unit works well and is easy to set up
