What is WEEE?
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is a UK regulation designed to reduce the amount of waste electrical goods sent to landfill sites. It encourages the recovery, reuse, and recycling of electronic equipment and components.
Unwanted electrical equipment is the UK’s fastest-growing type of waste. Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and stopping harmful substances from leaching into soil and water systems.
The Crossed-Out Wheelie Bin Symbol
All electrical and electronic equipment marked with the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol must not be disposed of in standard domestic household waste. Instead, it must be recycled through dedicated collection points.
How to Identify If Your Equipment Is Recyclable
Not sure if your old fitness product falls under WEEE recycling guidelines? Check if your item qualifies using the indicators below:
1. Mains Plug / Cable
Any equipment that plugs into a wall socket (motorised treadmills, power incline units, plug-in rowers) is classified as WEEE waste.
2. Battery-Powered Monitors
If your exercise bike, cross trainer, or stepper features an electronic LCD display powered by batteries, the unit qualifies.
3. WEEE Symbol Label
Check near the serial number sticker or motor casing for the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol printed on the product rating plate.
Non-Electrical Items (Excluded from WEEE)
Purely mechanical equipment without electronic components or displays (e.g., cast iron dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, yoga mats, manual weight benches) is not classified as WEEE waste and cannot be recycled through this scheme.

How the Take-Back Scheme Works:
When you purchase a new electrical fitness machine from JLL Fitness, you can return your old equivalent electrical item to us for safe, environmentally friendly disposal free of charge within 28 days of your order date.
Purchase New Item
Buy any new electrical machine (e.g., treadmill or rower) from JLL Fitness.
Request WEEE Take-Back
Contact our support team within 28 days with your new order confirmation number.
Return Your Old Item
Deliver or ship your old electrical equivalent item to our recycling centre.
Where to Send WEEE Returns
If you wish to utilise our take-back service, please ensure your old item is like-for-like (for example, an old treadmill for a new treadmill purchase) and send it to our main depot:

Note: Customers are responsible for any transportation or courier postage costs required to deliver the old unit to our depot. Alternatively, you can drop off unwanted WEEE items at your local civic amenity site / local council recycling center free of charge.

You can also recycle your old electrical products at local Household Recycling Centers (HRC) across the UK.
